Tokyo Summer Festival Trip: 3 Days Around Sumida Fireworks

This is a suggested route, not a record of a tested tour. The 2026 Sumida River Fireworks took place on July 25; July 24–26 illustrates a three-day stay. Those dates are now past. For a future edition, wait for the organizer to announce its date before booking.

Day 1: Arrive and explore Asakusa

Check in, visit Senso-ji and explore the surrounding streets at your own pace. Use this day to check the event's viewing map, access restrictions and return route. There is no Sanja Matsuri procession in this July plan.

Day 2: Sumida River Fireworks

Keep the daytime schedule light and check the organizer's latest announcement. The published 2026 program was July 25, 19:00–20:30. Choose a permitted viewing location and follow crowd-control instructions; do not assume bridges or riverbanks allow stationary viewing. Plan the journey back before entering the crowded area.

Day 3: Ueno or a relaxed departure

Allow recovery time after the late evening. Choose a park walk or a museum in Ueno after checking its opening calendar, or leave the day free for departure.

What belongs to a different trip?

Sanja Matsuri and Kanda Matsuri are May events. They cannot be combined with July fireworks as consecutive festival days. Check the relevant year's program separately.

Weather, accommodation and costs

The 2026 organizer's policy was cancellation if conditions prevented the event, not automatic postponement to the following Saturday. For future editions, use that year's policy. Compare accommodation, transport and any paid seating separately; this route does not promise a fixed total budget or guaranteed seats.
