Ebisu-ko is a celebration honoring Ebisu, the god of prosperity and fishing, held at shrines nationwide on November 20. Nishinomiya Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture, considered the head shrine of all Ebisu shrines, draws enormous crowds of merchants and business owners praying for commercial success. Lucky bamboo branches (fukuzasa) are sold as talismans.
