- Treat August as three different routes: Tokyo indoor events like Comiket, early-August Tohoku circuits, or mid-August Obon / dance festivals. Trying to do all three in one short trip usually fails on transit.
- Book transport and hotels before Obon pressure hits. Kanto and Nebuta work best in the first week; Comiket and Awa Odori sit closer to the August 13-16 crowd wall.
- If you are staying in Tokyo around Obon, Tsukiji Bon Odori and Asakusa Toro Nagashi are the easiest late-summer add-ons. They give you one more August night event without breaking the hotel plan.
